In this dream I had suddenly "come to" and found myself aboard a passenger jet. As I looked around there was a definite sense of panic among the passengers and when I looked out the window it was clear we were in some kind of a nose diveand going down fast. I realized the panic was due to the impending impact. Realizing this, I decided I had better prepare, and began looking for my seatbelt. As I fumbled for it I thought about what an ex-boyfriend (a pilot, and this is in real life!) had told me about where the safest seat on the plane was in terms of surviving a crash. Hmmm... where did he say? Think, think, think..... was it in the middle near the wings?
I stood up and decided to make my way farther up the plane since I was right at the back. I chose a seat near the front (didn't I just decide the middle was safer??) where there were two women seated, in the window and middle seat. Just as I was going to sit down the girl in the middle needed to get out to go talk to the pilot (??) so I let her out and then sat down in the aisle seat and began to make polite conversation with the girl two seats over as we both tried sorting out the confusing seatbelt situation. Two of the seatbelts were green and one was yellow for some reason. As we were belting ourselves in I noticed the seat in front of me was not in the upright position and indeed was cramping me a bit as it was leaning quite far back. There was no one in it so I tapped the shoulder of the person beside it to ask if he could get it upright for me only to realize it was the pilot in front of me! (no cockpit?? who needs it!)
By the time all this was straightened out I looked up only to find that we had landed. Although relieved that we didn't crash, I was mildly annoyed that I had gone to all the trouble and panic of preparing for my possible demise for nothing. "That was it?? Well that wasn't so bad!" I said outloud, to which the pilot replied "That wasn't the hard part". Wondering what he was talking about I looked out the window and saw that we were actually driving the plane down a deserted road in a town. Tires and barrels were burning, people were running and screaming, and the overall scene looking like a riot or Armageddon had just gone through. It was spooky. The pilot stopped the plane and opened his window (??) to ask some guy outside if he knew where we could get some gas (shyeah... like we could just pull up to a gas station!).
Next I find myself running around outside looking for somewhere to hide along with, I think, the girl who was in the seat beside me. We knew it was unsafe to be out in the open and we were looking for a place to hole up and decide what to do. We entered some building down the road only to find.... what else?.... zombies roaming the halls. We ducked in and out of rooms to hide from them, all the while trying to come up with a game plan.
At one point I noticed a kitchen area and decided I was going to steal some of the food that the zombies were eating (zombies need to eat??). I snuck in over a counter and grabbed a bowl of cereal and handed it out to the other girl and then hopped back over the counter. At that point I saw an old sign that listed the menu and costs for food from this kitchen, noticed the cost of the cereal, and put some money down on the counter.
Just then I heard somebody yell that "they're coming", in a rather panicked voice, causing all the zombies to scramble and hide. I ran out onto a balcony and then slid on my belly to the edge to try and peek to see who was coming. I couldn't see anything and as I stood up and walked back into the building I saw a man coming up the stairs with a butcher knife in his hand. He froze when he saw me, as did I when I saw him. Worried he would mistaken me for a zombie I had thought it best I quickly explain who I was and how I came to be there. As I did so I noticed.... I couldn't really talk anymore. I couldn't articulate words, only make grunts and moans and sounds akin to someone who is mentally handicapped. I tried gesturing to make him understand but to no avail.
I had turned into a zombie at some point, and I hadn't even realized it.
